The objective of the database is to support with training material, guidelines and case studies organizations and individuals interested in holistic, area-based sustainable energy planning. The materials included in this database are open access materials that have been identified, collected and reviewed or developed within the works of INTENSSS-PA and 2ISECAP projects. The aim of the database is fourfold:
The content of the database address four different pillars of knowledge required to achieve efficiently and effectively the energy transition in local level: i) development of holistic, area based energy plans, ii) establishment and operation of Living Labs, iii) tools and approaches for integrated spatial planning, iv) case studies and documentation on success stories, concepts and ideas on local energy transition projects and initiatives.
Two different functionalities are foreseen into the database.
The first functionality (External Exploitation) focuses on the exploitation of the training materials and case studies outside of the INTENSSS-PA and 2ISECAP projects, with the utilization of the following four types of searching:
The second functionality (Internal Exploitation) intends solely to the exploitation of the produced materials within the framework of INTENSSS-PA and 2ISECAP projects. The aim of the second functionality is to act as a simple Decision Support System fostering the potential user to utilize both of the developed methodological approach and the produced materials for the involved regions. The intention of the database is to increase the possibilities for methodology’s replication from other regions in EU level.
The potential user will have the opportunity to be informed both for the methodological issues and the produced materials either for separate methodological steps or for the whole approach. Each European region in NUTS-2 analysis will be capable of retrieving the information for the INTENSSS-PA and 2ISECAP regions, which belong to the same formulated cluster.
Finally, an additional feature has been developed in order to facilitate the search for cases that a European region in NUTS-2 analysis does not co-exist in the same cluster with the regions in the INTENSSS-PA and 2ISECAP projects. The connection can be achieved using some typical qualitative characteristics of the INTENSSS-PA’s and 2ISECAP regions so as to retrieve automatically the corresponding material from the involved region in INTENSSS-PA and 2ISECAP projects, which has the identical characteristic.
